Better sound quality
By pushing the possibilities of the latest technology and with the experience gained from Apogee’s advanced sound card Symphony I/O, Apogee engineers have redesigned Duet in a way that will make a difference in your senses.
Incorporating all the high-quality features offered by Apogee, from microphone pre-amps to AD/DA converters, Duet 2 records the sounds you will record more clearly and adds dimension compared to Duet. In this sense, with Duet 2, you can take the professional sound quality you are after with you everywhere.
Smooth, detailed world-standard microphone preamps
DUET for iOS & Mac’s 0-75dB gain mic preamps are made from completely new components with a new design, enabling uniquely scratchless transitions when playing with the gain setting. With this feature, which has not been implemented before, you can instantly get the optimum gain setting you are looking for (either on the device or with the Maestro software) with ultra-low low noise, smooth and lively sound quality. Most importantly, the Duet 2’s mic preamps are optimized to not obscure any detail from any sound source.
Transparent, next-generation AD/DA converters
Like its preamps, DUET for iOS & Mac’s AD/DA converters have also been designed entirely from the ground up for the most lifelike recording and most accurate listening experience possible. The re-created Duet 2 has taken the personal studio experience to the next level, just like the original Duet did, with its components that push the limits of technology.
Color OLED Display DUET for iOS & A new feature that comes with the Mac is the full color and high resolution OLED display. The indicators on this OLED panel, where all the controls of Duet 2 are provided, are metering (sound level indicator), numerical values that help define input and output levels, grouping of signal inputs, phase, mute, phantom power (48 V) and soft limit status indicators. Thanks to this display screen, you can learn the status of any input or output signal at any time without wasting time on the Maestro software on the computer |
Programmable Touch Keys
DUET for iOS & The 2 touch keys on the Mac can be assigned to the desired function. Positioning the keys just above and either side of the encoder button (rotary and push button) provides quick access to the sound card’s “Mute Outputs”, “Dim Outputs”, “Sum to Mono” or “Select Headphone Source” functions. These functions are assigned to the keys from within the new Maestro 2 software. Once you assign the functions you use the most to the touch keys, you can quickly access these controls without the need to open the software again.
Redesigned Breakout Cable
DUET for iOS & Mac’s breakout cable is greatly simplified and mic/instrument connectors (XLR and 1/4″) are combined into a single connector. 2 inputs and 2 balanced 1/4″ outputs have a commonBy converging at one point and connecting to Duet 2 with a single piece of cable, cable clutter is put to an end. With the simple yet durable design of the connecting cables, your personal studio is as appealing to the eye with its stylish look as it is to the ear.
iPad lets you touch your creativity
Your interaction with your iPad to make music is just like playing a musical instrument. Software like Apple’s Garage Band turns your iPad into an instrument. Whether you’re moving faders on the mixer, changing software parameters, or editing waveforms, iPad’s multi-touch interface is a much more effective form of control than mouse clicks or trackpad movements.
