The unique and attractive cabinet shape of ForceField Subwoofers
With non-parallel cabinet walls (it’s narrower at the bottom when viewed from the front), it helps ForceField subs achieve exceptionally deep and precise bass, ideal for music and movies. State-of-the-art amplifier design utilizes the latest DSP control for frequency shaping so subs produce accurate, consistent and musical bass performance.
Let’s take a look at the ForceField subwoofers to see what makes them special. We’ll start with two very common sub-design concepts and then explore GoldenEar’s unique and better solutions. Most of today’s subdivisions fall into either the ultra-compact high-output category or the (larger) high-performance, extended-response, high-output category. These two design types tend to offer different performance advantages; The ultra-compact is capable of playing extremely loud, but has a narrower bandwidth and large subunits with that high output and more extended responses.
GoldenEar’s engineering team set out to achieve the best of both worlds with their new ForceField subwoofer: small in size, but with the smooth and wide response of a larger sub. No sleight of hand, just great engineering – all ForceField subunits share the same technologies, here’s a list of their features. Read them and get a good demo disc in the GoldenEar dealer’s sound room and listen for yourself.
Specially designed high output drivers with very large motor assemblies. These drivers have great power, they travel very long and they have very low distortion.
Rigid cabinets with non-parallel edges to minimize standing waves and distortions. The drivers are pre-fired on all our subwoofers for optimum performance. The cabinets have a unique and simple shape and style that pairs well with any decor.
The driver’s response is enhanced by a carefully tuned, down-firing, quadratic-shaped passive radiator (with non-noise ports on ForceField substations). The quadratic shape allows the radiators to use maximum surface area in the lower part of the cabinets and the subwoofers get a larger output resulting from the interface with the floor (see next point).
The soft, energy-absorbing feet provided with each ForceField bottom serve a number of functions. First, they keep the right distance from the ground so the passive radiator loads with it to dramatically increase the load at the lowest frequencies. Second, the soft feet keep dancing on the floor from below.
PowerField subwoofer amplifiers are designed by GoldenEar engineering, so each is the perfect amplifier to power the particular subwoofer model. Additionally, the amps all have powerful DSP sections to optimize frequency response, minimize distortion and prevent excessive damage. All of these amplifiers are exceptionally powerful (up to 1500 watts on the ForceField 5), with low distortion and exceptionally powerful reproduction of high-output and low-pitched bass.
The ForceField subunits all have speaker-level inputs and outputs (with high-pass crossover on the outputs) and direct LFE input.
We know there’s a huge selection of subsectors on the market – but with the lack of cutting-edge technology and the rest of the past five years, we know that ForceField subsidiaries offer real value. At these price points, there’s nothing to play lower or louder with less noise and distortion than the PowerField sub. Our ForceField subs are as small as most ultra-compact models, but they outperform most large men.
ForceField 5
The outstanding ForceField 5 combines all the cutting-edge and innovative concepts introduced in ForceField 3 and 4 into a bigger and even more powerful low-frequency beast. The ForceField 5 combines a GoldenEar designed DSP controlled 1500 Watt digital amplifier and a tall 12″ subwoofer (includes a large high gauss magnet structure) driven by pressure that connects 12-3/4″ x to a downward firing 14-1/2″ subwoofer. second order planar infrasonic radiator.
