It builds on the success of XT Evolution and Ruby Anniversary cables with which it shares a family legacy, but now includes increased conductor spacing to further reduce losses and distortions caused by cable capacitance.

This provides an alternative path for high-frequency audio components that might otherwise become time driven in a single vocal tract. Over 2.5 mm² of cross-sectional area, QED cables use air core technology to eliminate the skin effect by combining several individually insulated small cores to form a larger CSA. If these conductors are passed through a polyethylene consisting of a hollow center, the self-inductance exhibited by the cable can be reduced to about half that estimated by calculation.
