FEATURES AND BENEFITS
NEW STRENGTHENED RECEIPT
The new Forté plug pin section is designed to maximize contact area across the wide tolerance range encountered in 4mm amplifier and speaker sockets. Here, some are quite tight, others are loose, so the spring-loaded Forté blade is designed to fit smaller and larger sockets with equal insertion force.
This means that the contact area is maximized and the connection remains evenly tight.

WHAT IS AILOC?
Airloc is a cold source system that can be used to permanently connect QED Forté banana plugs or paddle terminals to all of our speaker cables.
One of the main reasons to choose a QED speaker cable is superior d.c. Resistance properties offered by the exclusive use of 99.999% oxygen-free copper conductors. It would seem embarrassing, then, to divert all that attention to detail by drawing attention to the most vulnerable area of the speaker cable chain, namely the physical interface between the cable and the amplifier or speaker terminals.
As seen under the microscope, the surface of a typical copper wire is very rough, and so using regular screw-type terminals – found on binding posts or cheap banana plugs – electrical contact is made only in relatively few places. Add to this a layer of oxidation, which is inevitable if the copper is exposed to air for a short time, and the combined resistance of the cable can slide back down to levels found in a lower cable.
Airloc ™ using cold source spin type termination Crush the conductors and the plug to improve the contact area of the plugs and reduce the resistance.
As can be seen in the graph below, the resistance of the joint reached its minimum value when full pressure was applied.
Now, as all air is removed from the joint, there will be no oxidation on the contact surfaces, so low resistance will remain for the life of the cable. During the cold welding process, the cable and plug become one solid piece of metal.
