The Reference XLR 40 is based on the multi-award winning audio 40 product line, now available in XLR form
The XLR 40 is primarily designed for low capacitance as it has been identified by QED as an important factor leading to a high fidelity experience. Using a special floating Zn/Mn ferrite jacket combined with the use of QED’s unique ‘Tri-Conductor’ technology to eliminate minute timing errors in the cable, low levels of ground capacitance lowering signals are eliminated.
Award winning legacy
The reference XLR 40 is based on the multiple award-winning Audio 40 range, now available in XLR form. QED has joined forces with world-renowned professional audio connector supplier Neutrik (UK) to bring you an innovative new XLR balanced patch cable with legendary build quality and reliability.
Professional Standard Neutrik Plugs
Neutrik XX-14 Nickel Series XLR gold-plated connectors come standard with Reference XLR 40 cables. These connectors are robust and reliable and are the connector of choice for audio professionals around the world. These are due to QED’s Tri-Conductor ™
Listen only
Silver-plated conductors, LDPE dielectrics, and legendary build quality combine to create audible audio enhancements. We recommend that you compare the reference XLR 40 not only with your favorite cable, but also alternative brands and models at any price!
Floating Ferrite Jacket
Absorbs high frequency noise signal components outside the audio band. When measured using high-frequency measurement equipment, Audio 40 products carry a cleaner and tighter signal pattern when the special Zn/Mn ferrite sheath is available.
Unique Tri-Conductor Technology
The QEDs unique Tri-Conductor technology uses a third 99.999% OFC conductor twisted integrally alongside a similarly constructed signal pair to carry ground return currents. This reduces the signal level at low levels which improves the common mode rejection of the mains cluster aggregation over ordinary “hot cold and screen” wires. This geometry is particularly effective in pro hi-fi audio applications when connecting pre and power amplifiers using balanced cables.
