QED Reference XLR 40 2 XLR to 2 XLR Audio Cable
The Reference XLR 40 is based on the multi-award winning Audio 40 product line, now available in XLR form.
The XLR 40 is primarily designed for low capacitance, as it has been identified by QED as a key factor leading to a high accuracy experience. With the use of QED’s unique ‘Tri-Conductor’ technology, as well as the use of a special floating Zn/Mn ferrite jacket, further steps were taken to eliminate the smallest timing errors in the cable, reducing the signal ground capacitance to levels low enough to be lost.
Award-winning legacy
The reference XLR 40 is based on the multi-award winning Audio 40 product line, now available in XLR form. QED has joined forces with world-renowned professional audio connector supplier Neutrik (UK) to bring you an innovative new XLR balanced interconnect cable with legendary build quality and reliability.
Professional Standard Neutrik Plugs
Neutrik XX-14 Nickel Series XLR gold-plated connectors come standard with Reference XLR 40 cables. These connectors are robust and reliable and are the connector of choice for audio professionals around the world. QED’s Tri-Conductor ™ They are particularly suitable for geometry.
Listen only
Silver-plated conductors, LDPE dielectrics and legendary build quality combine to create audible sound enhancements. We recommend comparing the reference XLR 40 not only with your favorite cable, but also alternative brands and models at any price!
Floating Ferrite Jacket
Absorbs high frequency noise signal components outside the audio band. When measured using high-frequency measurement equipment, Audio 40 products deliver a similarly cleaner and tighter signal pattern when the special Zn/Mn ferrite jacket is available.
Unique Three Conductor Technology
QED’s unique Tri-Conductor technology uses a third Silver-plated 99.999% OFC conductor that is integrally twisted alongside a similarly formed signal pair to carry ground return currents. This provides enhanced common mode rejection of the cable in mains hum pick-up over ordinary “hot, cold and shielded” cables, reducing the signal ground capacitance to levels low enough to be lost. This geometry is particularly effective in professional hi-fi audio applications when connecting pre and power amplifiers using balanced cables.

About QED Cables Made in the UK
QED is an award-winning British company with over 40 years of experience in the audiovisual connectivity industry.
In 1973, Bob Abraham and Ian Vine founded QED Audio Products and changed the way people think about hi-fi cables. When the QED 79 strand speaker cable was introduced in 1978, it wasn’t seen as ‘just another speaker cable’, but rather as a serious hi-fi component, making a fundamental change in how people think about cables.
QED’s reputation for innovation and technical excellence is recognized worldwide. The latest computer-aided design techniques allow the research and development team to keep up with technological advances and deliver products that achieve the highest levels of performance and reliability. That’s why QED products are recommended by many of the world’s leading manufacturers of hi-fi and home theater equipment.
QED offers a range of connectivity products ranging from both consumer and installation cables, wireless products and switching devices to meet every audio-visual need.
QED is Europe’s number one award-winning connectivity brand and ‘What Hi-Fi? Sound & Vision magazine is better than other brands.is good (Awards 1981–2013).
